Dreamlake Fishing Park
Visit a rustic and designated Thai fishing lake for a true Chiang Mai fishing adventure. Thailand is currently the only country in the world allowing fishing for private stocks of Mekong giant catfish. As the species is endangered, the conservation efforts help to save this remarkable fish. Mekong giant catfish do not breed in lakes, so resort purchases like the ones from Borsang Fishing Park generate the additional income the government breeding program needs to ensure the future of this endemic species.
Other than the Giant Mekong Catfish, the lake also holds striped catfish of up to 25kg and you will leave Borsang Fishing Park deeply impressed by the power of these furiously fighting animals. At Borsang Fishing Park, you are practically guaranteed to bring in some great catch, as our professional coaches know the lake and will provide you with the best possible service to make your visit to Borsang Fishing Park a resounding and memorable success.
Located a mere 8km (5 miles) away from Chiang Mai, Borsang Fishing Park is an ideal destination to get away from the city for a day. Reviews of Borsang Fishing Park are raving and for good reason! Lakes in Thailand are filled to the brim with fish and you will have more photo opportunities than you can count in a single day.
The managers of Dream Lake, who organize this tour, started fishing at Borsang Fishing Park almost 15 years ago and are happy to share their knowledge with you along the way. This is a location for fishermen run by passionate fishermen. During the cooler winter period in Northern Thailand (December- February), Borsang Fishing Park should be your first choice for a fishing adventure in Chiang Mai
The average size of catfish is 5-20kg and the chance for bigger ones is fairly good. Typical local equipment consists of carp rods at 3-3,5 lbs test curves and big reels spooled with 30-40 lbs (all monofilament).
